Christmas Coffee Gifts - What To Get A Coffee Lover 2024
Coffee lovers and home baristas are a special breed of nerd, they are pedantic perfectionists and when it comes to their hobby purchasing the wrong kit could prove troublesome. But when you get it right your gift can make their day.
In this article we're going to share our top most gifted coffee products with you, help you decide what category of coffee nerd your loved one is and help define what the best gift is for them!
Espresso, Milk Based or Filter?
Before we go any further we have to work this out, does your coffee nerd drink Espresso or Filter? This is crucial and will make or break your coffee gift. Gifting a filter coffee nerd an Espresso Grinder is like giving a chef a hammer, it just missed the mark (Points for trying though).
Don't worry if you find that your coffee nerd drinks some or all of these coffees too! You might just have a mega coffee nerd on your hands.
Espresso Drinkers:
Your coffee nerd likes their coffee black, they have an espresso machine and drink their espresso coffee in a small cup straight, with no milk and without sugar.
Milk Based Coffee Drinkers:
Your coffee nerd has an espresso machine and drinks their coffee with milk, they attempt latte art and make a range of different drinks such as lattes, flat withes, iced coffees and cappuccino's.
Filter and Black Coffee Drinkers:
Your coffee nerd drinks filter coffee, aka pour over or drip coffee. Commonly using a pour over coffee dripper and a slow pour gooseneck kettle, your filter coffee nerd typically takes their time to weigh their pours and hand grind their beans.
What type of coffee nerd are they?
Working out how far down the coffee rabbit hole can be tricky but there may be signs that you've picked up on to help identify where your coffee nerd is on the nerdiness scale.
To do this we're going to create 4 main types of imaginary coffee nerds with their traits and your job is to try to work out which one of these your coffee nerd aligns with.
Beginner Barista:
The Beginner Barista is an entry level coffee enthusiast, they've shown an interest in coffee and are just starting out their journey of exploration. Beginners are often confused and in the 'research' phase when it comes to learning about coffee.
Because of this a coffee book or some entry level coffee gear can be a great gift idea. We have a full collection of budget coffee gear under $50 that can make a great gift.
Alternatively our Pour Over Coffee Kits have everything you need to start making pour over coffee at home.
'I Love Coffee' Nerd:
These guys are usually using an entry level coffee dripper and an inexpensive coffee grinder, starting off with budget gear isn't an issue but upgrading to a premium coffee grinder or pour over coffee dripper will take their coffee to the next level.
Coffee Snob:
These guys have way too many drippers, fancy gear and everything in between. and because they already have so much we thought it would be great to recommend these, ... a one of a kind and completly unique.
Back To Basics:
These guys have been around the block and come full circle, they went through their exploration days and now they've settled with what they know to be 'good enough', there is only one thing you can get people like this and thats a bag of coffee beans.
