Coffee starts losing flavour the moment it's exposed to air. The MiiR Airlock Coffee Canister addresses this with a press-to-seal inner lid that pushes excess air out of the canister each time you close it, helping your beans or ground coffee stay fresher for longer between brews.
The canister holds approximately 340g (12oz) of coffee and is made from 90% recycled 18/8 stainless steel. Its minimalist black finish suits a home kitchen, office counter, or cafe coffee station without drawing unnecessary attention.
How it works
Inside the canister sits a floating seal disc. Press it down after adding your coffee, and it forces air out through a one-way valve, reducing the oxygen that would otherwise degrade flavour and aroma. When you're ready to use the coffee, pull the centre knob upward to release the seal and lift the plunger out of the canister lid.
This makes the canister suitable for both whole beans and ground coffee, whichever you keep on hand.

Is this canister right for you?
If you buy coffee in 250g-340g bags and go through it within a few weeks, this canister is a straightforward way to keep those beans in better condition than the original bag alone. It won't stop staling entirely, coffee is best used within a few weeks of roasting regardless of storage but reducing air exposure is one of the more effective things you can do to slow the process at home.

Keep Coffee Fresher For Longer
Air, Light, Temperature and Humidity all increase the rate your coffee looses it's freshness. By storing your coffee beans correctly you're able to keep drinking tasty coffee for longer.
What Ages Coffee?
-
Air
Air has the biggest impact on how your coffee ages, constant exposure to air accelerates oxidation of coffee beans, causing coffee to go stale and develop unpleasant flavours.
-
Light
Light is a contributing factor to ageing your coffee beans, by sheilding your coffee from light (in particular sunlight or indirect light) will help keep your coffee fresher for longer.
-
Moisture
Roasted coffee beans are porous and hygroscopic (they absorb moisture from the air). When exposed to humidity, they absorb water vapour, which speeds up ageing.
-
Temperature
Keep your coffee in a cool and dry space within your kitchen. For long term storage consider freezing your coffee beans.
