This water profile is highly recommended for cupping protocols, providing a harmonious balance that suits coffee enthusiasts worldwide. From the coffee farm to your cup, the minerals in the water you brew with plays a vital role in ensuring that we all enjoy the best coffee possible.

So, how do you use it? It's easy! Simply add one 'Third Wave Water Classic Roast Profile' stick to distilled or RO water (Reverse Osmosis), give it a rough shake, and use it to brew your favourite coffee. You'll be shocked at the difference it makes and will appreciate how subtle difference can make big impact on taste.

Achieve Optimum Extraction According to the SCA water standard, your water should have around 150 total dissolved solids (TDS). TDS represents the amount of "stuff" in your liquid. This stuff can include organic matter, minerals, and even some chemicals, depending on your water source. If your water has more than 250 TDS, it won't be able to extract enough due to its high mineral content. On the other hand, if it's below 50 TDS, you won't achieve the right balance of sweetness and body in your coffee. Think of it like water carrying ions; the less it's carrying, the more it will stop and pick things up along the way. With the Classic and Espresso Profiles, Third Wave Water have crafted water profiles that falls within this optimal range to bring out the best in your coffee.

Third Wave Water Minerals - Classic Profile

  • The Classic Profile was created to meet the earlier SCAA water requirements with 10 mg of sodium chloride, ~40 TDS/kH of alkalinity and 150 TDS (total dissolvable solids).
  • The Classic Profile is suitable for: Pour Overs, Batch Brewers, and Cold Brew.
  • All minerals are permanent hardness and helps protect your coffee brewing equipment.

Third Wave Water Minerals - Espresso Profile

  • The Espresso Profile was created to meet the later SCA water requirements while simultaneously protecting espresso machine boilers. Contains ~80 TDS/kH of alkalinity and 150 TDS (total dissolvable solids).
  • The Espresso Profile include: Espresso Machines, Super-automatics, Batch Brewers, and Pour Over brewing.
  • All minerals contain permanent hardness and help protect your coffee brewing equipment.

How To Use:

  1. Add 1x Stick of your Third Wave Water Mineral Sachet into 2L of Distilled water.
  2. Shake to mix the contents.
  3. pour this directly into your coffee brewing kettle or your espresso machines reservoir.
