The Shelbru June is a stainless steel pour over dripper built around one idea: hold brewing temperature steady from the bloom to your final pour.

All drippers cool during the brew. As the slurry temperature drops, extraction slows and the balance of acidity, sweetness and bitterness shifts, some more so than others. Different materials and designs play a role in the thermal stability of your dripper and the June Dripper from Shelbru uses a double wall vacuum insulated body to slow that heat loss, giving you a more stable brewing environment and a more repeatable cup.

Four Layered Design

Shelbru describes June as a four layer construction. Each layer has a specific purpose rather than being there for looks:

  • PVD outer coating: a fingerprint resistant matte finish that keeps the exterior looking clean in daily use.
  • SUS304 double wall stainless steel body: the structural shell, and the part that carries the vacuum insulation.
  • Vacuum insulated cavity: slows heat transfer out of the brew chamber, keeping slurry temperature more stable through the drawdown.
  • Ceramic coated inner wall: the only surface your coffee touches, so there's no metallic or plastic character carried into the cup.

Thermal stability

Shelbru tested their June Dripper alongside other popular drippers (Glass and Metal) under identical immersion brewing conditions and reported that the June Dripper held a noticeably more stable temperature curve, while the comparison drippers showed larger fluctuations across the brew.

In practical terms, that stability does two things, For everyday brewing it tends to bring out brighter acidity, more sweetness and a fuller body, a rounder and more structured cup without changing your recipe. For dialling in, it makes every other variable easier to read. When temperature isn't drifting underneath you, a change in grind size or pour rate shows up clearly instead of being masked.

12 concave ribs for even extraction

The June Drippers brew chamber utilises twelve concave ribs rather than the raised ribs found on other conical drippers. The concave profile holds the filter paper flush against the dripper wall, which does two useful things.

First, it reduces sagging and wrinkling in the filter. A filter that sits properly against the wall minimises bypass so more of your brew water actually hits the coffee bed and extracts your coffee.

Second, the recessed channels between the ribs give air somewhere to escape as the bed saturates. Air escaping smoothly instead of burping through the bed means a more stable flow rate and a more even extraction across the whole drawdown.

June Dripper's Ceramic Coated Inner Wall

The interior is ceramic coated so brewed coffee never contacts bare metal. This is a small detail with a real effect: it prevents the faint metallic or plastic note that some stainless and plastic drippers can contribute, letting subtle origin character come through unmasked. It also makes the interior easy to rinse clean.

Cool To Touch

Because the outer wall is separated from the brew chamber by the vacuum layer, the exterior stays cool enough to handle comfortably during and after brewing. You can lift June off the carafe as soon as the drawdown finishes without reaching for a cloth.

Aroma Flow™ Base

June sits on a detachable silicone base Shelbru calls Aroma Flow™. It centres and stabilises the outflow so coffee lands where you want it rather than running down the side of the cone, and by concentrating that stream it supports more structured aroma development and a sweeter perceived cup.

Because the base detaches, it also doubles as the connection point for other brewing hardware.

  • POUR OVER RATIO

Generally Pour Over and Filter Coffee have a water to coffee ratio of 1:15.
Although it is important to know that some coffee tastes better at a lower or higher ratio and that numbers are just a guide.

  • POUR OVER BREW TIME

Depending on a range of different factors your pour over coffee might be really quick and only last 1 minute or can last up to 10 minutes. Most pour overs generally take around 2-4 minutes and consistently long pour overs may be a result of stalling.

  • WATER FOR POUR OVER COFFEE

The hotter your water is the higher amount of extraction will occur. Put simply, this is all you need to know but when it comes down to dialling-in your coffee you can change your water temperature to change the flavour of your coffee.

  • BREW METHODS

The method, technique and overall recipe you use to brew your pour over coffee is known as your 'Brew Method'.
Depending on how many pours your use, the level of agitation when pouring and the brewing equipment you use will all determin how your coffee will taste.

  • COFFEE GRINDER

As soon as you grind your coffee beans they start to age and loose freshness, it's vital you grind your coffee fresh right before brewing pour over coffee.

Not all coffee grinders are built the same, some prioritise budget, portability, grind quality and some are even designed just for filter brewing or espresso brew methods.
Choosing a high quality coffee grinder will have a huge impact on how your coffee ends up tasting.

  • COFFEE DRIPPER

To make pour over coffee you will need a coffee dripper, this holds the coffee filter and grounds in place and sits ontop of a server or cup.
Coffee drippers come in a huge variety of materials, shapes and sizes all making impacts on how your coffee is brewed and how it tastes.
