The Wacaco Picopresso might just be the best way to make espresso on the go, it's ultra compact and portable but when making espresso at home you can afford to have a little bit more room to add upgrades to improve the performance.
Because of this Wacaco have introduced three upgrades for the Picopresso that you can add to your coffee maker, this includes the Picopresso Pressure Gauge, Picopresso Stand and the Protective Sleeves all bundled in this kit! Transforming your travel espresso maker into a decked out espresso bar now capable of pressure profiling and improved consistency when used on the stand.
Wacaco Picopresso Pressure Gauge:
The Picopresso Pressure Gauge is a small component that screws into the base of your Picopresso and basket holder, this device measures the pressure you're generating in live time.
The biggest issue that users fave with the Picopresso is over-pressurising, by pushing too quickly on a too fine grind size can lead to damage of the internals. Because the pressure gauge shows you a live display of the pressure you can avoid causing damage to your device.
As well as avoiding over pressurising you can also now play around with pressure profiling your espresso shots, whether its a simple pre infusion or a much more elaborate brew method.
Wacaco Picopresso Stand:
When making espresso on the go, you make do with what you have to save on space and packing lightly but when making espresso you really want to have the device positioned on a flat surface to ensure even espresso extraction.
The Wacaco Picopresso stand ensures your Picopresso is positioned perfectly level (providing the surface your stand is sitting on is level) and has plenty of room underneath for your espresso cup and coffee scale.
The Wacaco Picopresso stand also features a shot mirror, because the Picopresso can be brewed as a naked basket the shot mirror allows you to observe how your espresso extracts live, this means you can easily see if your shot channels, if your brewing on a perfectly flat surface and can indicate if you need to adjust your variables to better dial in your espresso.
Wacaco Picopresso Protective Sleeve:
Crafted from a high quality Polyurethane faux leather, this set of protective sleeves is designed to perfectly fit your Picopresso. The sleeves not only shield your Picopresso from scratches and minor bumps but also enhance its aesthetic with a sleek, refined look. Their durable construction ensures a long lasting protection, while the snug fit aids in providing an extra grippy feel when brewing.
Included is both a black and brown sleeve.

ESPRESSO
Espresso is one of the most concentrated beverages that humans can't seem to get enough of. Making perfectly dialed in coffee can be challenging at times but is not impossible, especially with the right tools.
ESPRESSO - BARISTA BASICS
-
COFFEE TO WATER RATIO
When brewing espresso you are constantly adjusting your variables to dial in your coffee. The coffee to water ratio is one of these variable.
Generally an espresso has a 1:2 Ratio but this isn't always the case and sometimes the word 'espresso' acts more as an umbrella term for coffees that are outside of this ratio.
A Lungo has a 1:3 ratio and a ristretto has a 1:1 ratio of coffee to water. -
WATER TEMPERATURE
COFFEE MACHINESBrewing espresso at different water temperatures will change how your coffee is extracted and the overall taste of your espresso.
Using a hotter water temperature will increased the body and sweetness but will have a greater chance of astringency and bitterness, while cooler water temperature will reduce bitterness, body and sweetness and can resulting in a sour, brighter espresso. -
PRESSURE FOR ESPRESSO
Pressure is a critical factor in brewing espresso, typically measured in bars. The most common pressure for extracting espresso is around 9 bars. Proper pressure ensures optimal extraction, balancing the flavours and aromas.
Adjusting your pressure throughout the one extraction is known as pressure profiling and is an entire rabbit hole in itself.

FRESHLY GROUND VS PRE-GROUND
SHOP GRINDERSGrinding your coffee right before you brew will drastically improve the taste of your coffee. The reason for this is that once you grind your coffee it has a much larger surface area and straight away starts to loose it's freshness.
