Most pour over drippers lose heat the moment you start brewing. The June Dripper from Shelbru was built around fixing that, using a double wall vacuum insulated body to keep the brewing coffee temperature steadier from bloom to drawdown. It is a well made, thoughtfully designed conical coffee dripper with a small detail we weren't convinced by.
Here is what works, what doesn't and everything you need to know about the Shelbru June Dripper.
What Is The Shelbru June Dripper?
The June is a conical pour over dripper made from SUS304 stainless steel with a vacuum insulated wall. It takes standard 02 size filter papers, the same ones you would use in a HARIO V60 or similar conical dripper.
Shelbru describes the construction as four layers, each layer has it's own job:
- PVD outer coating: a fingerprint resistant matte finish that keeps the exterior looking clean day to day.
- SUS304 double wall stainless steel body: the structural shell and the part carrying the vacuum insulation.
- Vacuum insulated cavity: slows heat transfer out of the brew chamber.
- Ceramic coated inner wall: the only surface your coffee touches, so no metallic characteristics carries into the final cup.
Thermal Stability And Why It Matters
Every dripper cools during a brew. As the slurry temperature drops, extraction slows and the balance between acidity, sweetness and bitterness shifts. Thin glass and ceramic cones lose heat quickly or require a lot of heat at the beginning to stay hot. Uninsulated metal cones can pull heat out of the brew even faster because the metal itself acts as a heat sink.
Shelbru tested the June against popular glass and metal drippers under identical immersion brewing conditions and reported that the June Dripper held a noticeably more stable temperature curve while the comparison drippers fluctuated more across the brew. That is manufacturer data rather than independent testing, so treat it as a claim rather than a verified number, but it lines up with what the design would predict and with how the dripper behaves in practice.
The practical effect shows up in two ways. For everyday brewing, a more stable brew temperature tends to give you a rounder, more structured cup. Brighter acidity, more obvious sweetness and a fuller body, without touching your recipe.
For dialling in, it makes every other variable easier to read. When temperature is not drifting underneath you, a change in grind size or pour rate shows up clearly instead of being masked by heat loss.
That second point is the one we care about most. A dripper that removes a variable is doing real work, even if the flavour difference in any single cup is subtle.
12 Concave Ribs Instead Of Raised Ribs
This is our favourite part of the design. Rather than the raised ribs found on most conical drippers, the June uses twelve concave channels recessed into the brew chamber wall.
The filter paper sits flush against the wall instead of being held off it by protruding ridges. That reduces sagging and wrinkling in the paper, which in turn reduces bypass, meaning more of your brew water actually travels through the coffee bed rather than around it.
As well as this, the recessed channels give air somewhere to escape as the bed saturates. Air escaping smoothly rather than burping up through the bed means a steadier flow rate and a more even extraction across the whole drawdown.
Ribs are one of those details that get argued about more than they get tested, but the concave approach makes sense. The filter stays where it should be, the drawdown feels consistent and there is less of the uneven channelling you sometimes see when a filter collapses inward on a ribbed cone.
The Ceramic Coated Interior
Brewed coffee avoids touching bare metal in the June dripper. The ceramic coating prevents the faint metallic taste some stainless drippers contribute, which matters most when brewing pour over coffee.
It also rinses clean easily, which is a small quality of life detail that adds up over a few hundred brews.
Cool To Touch
Because the vacuum layer separates the outer wall from the brew chamber, the exterior stays comfortable to handle during and after brewing. You can lift the June straight off your carafe when the drawdown finishes without reaching for a cloth. Anyone who has fumbled a hot metal dripper will appreciate this.
The Aroma Flow Base... Not A Fan
The June sits on a detachable silicone base Shelbru calls the Aroma Flow base. The idea is that it centres and stabilises the outflow so coffee lands cleanly in your vessel rather than running down the side of the cone, and that concentrating the stream supports aroma development and perceived sweetness.
In our testing, we could not detect a meaningful difference in the cup from the base. What we did notice is a practical downside. The rounded silicone underside means you cannot set the dripper down on a flat surface after brewing. When the drawdown finishes you are left holding a dripper full of wet grounds with nowhere obvious to put it, which is an odd inconvenience on a product that otherwise feels carefully thought through.
The base does detach, which helps, though removing it leaves you without the stabilising function it was designed for. If you are buying the June dripper for its thermal performance and rib design, treat the base as a neutral feature rather than a selling point.

Shelbru June Dripper Recipe
The June takes standard 02 filters and behaves like a conical dripper, so a standard V60 style recipe is the right starting point. We have been brewing it at a straightforward 1:16, which is the ratio most people already use on a cone and a sensible baseline for judging what the dripper is actually doing.
- Coffee: 16g
- Water: 256g, a 1:16 ratio
- Grind: medium fine, similar to your usual V60 setting
- Water temperature: 95°C
- Filter: 02 size, rinsed
- Total brew time: around 3:00
Brew Method
- Rinse the filter with hot water. Because the June is insulated you do not need a long preheat, though rinsing the paper is still worth doing.
- Add your grounds and level the bed.
- Bloom with 50g of water, about three times your dose. Swirl gently and wait 45 seconds.
- Pour steadily in circles up to 160g, aiming to finish this pour around the 1:15 mark.
- Pour the remaining 96g to finish at 256g by roughly 1:45.
- Give the dripper a light swirl to flatten the bed and let it draw down. You are looking for the brew to finish around 3:00.
Dialling in
Adjust grind first. If the brew finishes well before 2:30 and tastes thin or sour, go finer. If it drags past 3:30 and turns bitter or dry, go coarser. Only move temperature once your grind is close.
The insulation is worth using rather than fighting. Because the June holds its heat, you can sit at 94°C and know the coffee is still extracting properly at the end of the drawdown, where a glass or metal cone would have cooled off. For darker roasts, drop to 90 to 92°C to keep bitterness in check. Whatever you change, the fact that temperature is not drifting underneath you means the adjustment reads clearly in the cup, which is the main practical benefit of brewing on the June.
Our Final Verdict
The June does a really good job across a range of different coffees. Light and washed coffees keep their clarity, while heavier or more developed roasts hold their body without the drop off you get when a cone cools mid brew.
The materials, the finish and the overall feel of the dripper in hand are all excellent and the concave interior channels are a smarter solution than conventional raised ribs.
The Aroma Flow base is the one part we would change. It does not appear to do much, and it makes the dripper awkward to put down once you have finished brewing.
If you already brew well and want to remove temperature drift from your process, the June is a strong option and one of the better executed insulated cones available. If you are still learning the fundamentals, spend your money on better beans and a decent grinder first. A plastic V60 will teach you just as much, and the June will still be there when you want to tighten things up.
