How To Brew Espro French Press
French press brewing has always been loved for its rich, full-bodied cups of coffee. But let’s be honest, traditional presses often come with a gritty sediment at the bottom of your cup and while you might simply just avoid drinking that sediment at the end of your coffee those are small particles of coffee that are still being extracted well after you've finished brewing.
That’s where Espro French Presses come in. At Basic Barista, we’ve just introduced the Espro P3 and P6 presses, designed to give you the same bold flavour without the muddy finish. And in this article we're going to walk through what makes these presses different and how you can brew the perfect coffee with them!
What Makes the Espro French Presses Different?
Most French presses use a single mesh filter. While this is fine for extracting oils and body, it allows plenty of fine coffee particles through into your cup. Those particles don’t just settle, they keep extracting even after you’ve pressed, often leaving your coffee bitter, muddy or overly strong if you don’t drink it immediately.
The Espro Press solves this problem with its patented dual micro-filter system. These two ultra-fine mesh filters fit snugly inside one another, catching far more sediment than a traditional French press could ever manage. Resulting in a much cleaner, smoother cup of coffee that still retains the signature French press body and richness, just without the coffee sludge at the bottom.

Which Size Espro Press Should You Get?
Choosing the right Espro press comes down to how much coffee you typically drink:
- P3 (18oz) - Perfect for solo brewers or one generous mug at a time.
- P3 (32oz) - A great entry-level option if you regularly brew for two or more.
- P6 (32oz) - A premium, double-wall stainless steel option that keeps your coffee hotter for longer. Ideal for sharing or if you like to savour your brew slowly.
What Grind Size Should You Use for Espro French Press?
Grind size is key to great French press coffee. Too fine, and your brew will be over-extracted and silty. Too coarse, and it’ll taste weak and underdeveloped.
For the Espro French Press, aim for a medium-coarse grind, similar to coarse sand. This grind works perfectly with Espro’s dual micro-filters, ensuring you get full-bodied coffee without bitterness or grit.
The Espro French Press takes everything people love about the classic press bold, full-bodied coffee and perfects it with cleaner cups, consistent results, and a design built for everyday brewing. Whether you’re brewing one cup or a full pot for friends, Espro’s dual filter system makes the French press experience better than ever.
