My Favourite Hario V60

After using the plastic, the ceramic V60, metal V60, glass V60 and even Hario Mugen / Hario Switch. My favourite V60 has to be the Matte Black Metal V60.
While it may not be the most versatile or portable brewers the Hario V60 is my all time favourite V60 dripper from Hario. It is my daily driver and in this blog post I am going to tell you why.
Quality:
Over the years Hario has been proven and trusted in manufacturing coffee equipment, with a forward thinking design team and an unrivalled glass quality Hario is an industry leader.
As you can expect from all Hario products the quality is high and incredibly consistent. When it comes to the metal V60 it's construction is solid and you can trust that the folds will be the same dimensions on each and every dripper.
In my opinion the metal out of all the drippers will last the longest and has not faded as hard as some of my other drippers, particularly the plastic and ceramic. I am unsure as to why this is the case but I think that this is due to the coating, because I know that there is a coating I am a little less rough when hand washing and I believe this has a lot to do with this.
Matches my brew bar:
While this may not matter to you for me this is a big one, I love all coffee gear in Matte Black. Something about that soft, moody look and feel when using this dripper plays a big impact on my overall brewing experience.
I have to admit that when I was first starting out with brewing coffee this design and the look / feel was definitely not a priority however this has shifted for me recently.
Easy to clean:
This V60 has 2 parts, the Metal dripper itself and the Silicone ring that sits on top of server / mug. Removing the silicone ring gives you full access to the entire V60 dripper and makes washing a breeze. As I discussed earlier I think having the matte black coating actually deters me from washing too hard or rough and this is why it still looks so good after all this use.
Base:
There is currently only 1 other dripper that has a silicone base (Hario Switch) While this isn't one of the main reasons why I love this dripper it definitely helps to know that none of my coffee cups or servers are getting scratched up because of it.
Compatible with conical filters:
The Metal Matte Black Hario V60 shares the same design as all the other V60 drippers which also means it is compatible with Hario, Cafec, Aji Filter and most other coffee filter companies. At the moment most drippers (in Australia especially) are cone shapped and require the use of conical filters, while flat bottom filters are growing in popularity there is still many more conical filters to choose from.
